Hey! I’m Pluto, the leader of this movement, and this is my best bud, Charon!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When this Earth guy named Clyde Tombaugh found me back in 1930, everyone called me “Planet X”. That was until this 11-year-old Venetia Burney gave me my new name: Pluto! For 76 years, I was known as the ninth planet in the Solar System, but I never felt like I was. My orbit had always felt off-kilter from the other planets and I never had the physical strength to boss the asteroids and comets in my path around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, one day, some Earth scientists introduced me to some peeps that were going through the exact same things I was going through! After some discussion with the Earth scientists, it was decided that we would have our own squad: the dwarf planets! We decided to announce our new club to all the other Earth people, but when we did, they were angry at us for not being planets!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, just because I’m not a planet doesn’t mean I’m not awesome! For one thing, my name comes from the Roman god of the Underworld! Pretty metal, right? Also, see this heart on my face? It’s actually a scar from a HUGE collision!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, I have five moons, but the one that has my heart-shaped scar is Charon, named after the ferryman of the Underworld! We may have had a bit of a bumpy start (crashing into me and getting in my face was NOT COOL, BRO!!!), but we eventually made up and now we’re the best of pals! We love to play around, running circles around each other all day and night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
