Hello. My name’s Makemake.
I was discovered in 2005 by Mike Brown, Chad Trujillo, and David Rabinowitz. Since Easter was just around the corner when I was found, I was nicknamed “Easter Bunny” until I could get a new name. Eventually, I was named Makemake after the creation god of the Rapa Nui people of Easter Island. I guess things have a way of working out like that.
I’m a pretty simple world, all things considered. I like to stay close to Haumea’s orbit so we can hang out and chill. I also have a little moon. It doesn’t have a name yet, but I like to call the little guy MK2. It’s kinda like having a Makemake Jr., y’know?
